Biography:
JOHNSTON, Frank (1816-63: Biographical and Historical Record)
He was born in Philadelphia in 1816, graduated from Yale in 1835, and then went to Harvard Law School. After establishing a legal practice in Pittsburgh, he married Mary E. Anderson in 1842. They had three children. According to one of their sons, who went into business in Pittsburgh himself, Johnston devoted his leisure time in later years to study, especially of Greek authors.
