Author: Jenkins, James

Biography:

JENKINS, James (1753-1831: NLI)

NLI identifies him as a Quaker. No records for his birth have been located. The subscribers to his book predominantly came from Waterford, Clonmell, and Cork. One subscriber is Robert Dudley, a grocer in Clonmell; his English wife, Hannah, who died in Jan. 1773, is addressed in one poem as “H.D.” Jenkins seems not to have published anything else. The NLI gives 1831 as the year of his death and possibly he was the Quaker James Jenkins who died at Folkestone in 1831, aged seventy-eight. (ancestry.co.uk 8 Apr. 2021)
