Author: Ivison, Ursula
Biography:
IVISON, Ursula, formerly BLISS (1745-1822: ancestry.co.uk)
She was baptised Ursula Biggs Bliss on 19 Nov. 1745 at St. Margaret Moses, the daughter of Thomas Bliss and his wife Ursula Biggs. She married John Winn Ivison (1758-1794), an attorney, on 8 June 1786 at St. Mary, Marylebone. Thereafter they lived in Berkeley Square until his death in 1794. The Retired Penitent (1794), a paraphrase of Edward Young’s The Centaur Not Fabulous (1755), may possibly be a response to her newly widowed status. She probably died in early 1822 as death duties were registered in April of that year for an Ursula B. Ivison. (ancestry.co.uk 13 Aug. 2020; findmypast.co.uk 13 Aug. 2020) AA
