Author: Howland, Avis C.
Biography:
HOWLAND, Avis C., formerly Akin (1774-1849: findagrave.com)
Though she lived all her life in Dartmouth MA where she had been born, by her marriage to David Howland she became part of an extended family with branches throughout New England; John Howland of Providence RI (1757-1854) was his cousin. The Howlands had a large family--13 children who grew to adulthood, 11 outliving both parents. Avis Howland contributed to a catechism for Quaker youth (1837) and was presumably a member of the Society of Friends herself.
