Horton, Mary Lambert (1805-31: Perley)
Born in Peabody MA to Lemuel and Hannah (Porter) Horton, she acquired a literary education despite chronic illness and contributed poems to the Marblehead Register and Salem Register under the pen-name "M. Louisa" before she died of consumption in Salem at the age of 26. The posthumous collection of her writings is presented as a "memento of a departed friend."
