Biography:
HOMFRAY, Francis (1766-1831: ancestry.co.uk)
He was baptised on 21 Sept. 1766 at St. Mary, Ecclesfield (Sheffield), the son of Jeston Homfray and his wife Mary Anne Cotton. He was educated at Oriel, Oxford (AM 1796), and entered the church. He married Harriet Homfray (1779-1857), a cousin, at Lydney, Gloucestershire, on 27 June 1805. They had at least two children. The son, Kenyon, entered the church. The daughter, Maria, married a curate. In 1813 he became curate of Llanfair, Kilgedin, Monmouthshire, a position he held until his death there on 10 Mar. 1831. His wife, Harriet, survived him. He published Thoughts on Happiness (1802). John Holland extracted a passage on the River Don in The Poets of Yorkshire (1845).
