Biography:

Holford, Margaret, later Hodson (1778-1852: ODNB)

She was the eldest of four daughters of Allen Holford and Margaret (Wrench) Holford (q.v.). Her father died when she was still a child; her mother was a novelist, poet (Gresford Vale, 1798), and playwright. The younger Margaret was primarily a poet, though she also produced translations, two novels, and some non-fiction prose. She admired and imitated Scott, and was acquainted with Southey and Coleridge (qq.v.) In 1826 she became the third wife of the Rev. Septimus Hodson and thereafter used her married name for new work.
