HESTON, Jacob Franklin (1778-1845: ancestry.com)
Heston dedicated his book to the retired President, Thomas Jefferson, and sent him a copy, for which Jefferson sent a thankyou note. The copyright page indicates that Heston was resident in Pennsylvania: in fact he appears to have been born and died within what are now the boundaries of Philadelphia. His birthplace was the village of Hestonville; the federal censuses of 1830 and 1840 list him as living in Roxborough PA with two women (wife and mother or mother-in-law, to judge by their ages) and three sons, one of whom was in his thirties and an engineer by 1840, while two others were engaged in agricultural work.
