Haven, Samuel (1727-1806: WBIS)

Born in Framingham MA, he graduated from Harvard in 1749 and was ordained as pastor of the First Church in Portsmouth MA in 1752. He published many sermons and occasional discourses 1760-1800, and was known especially for his funeral sermons. He was honoured with a DD by Edinburgh in 1770 and by Dartmouth in 1773. In 1753 he married Mehetabel Appleton and they had eleven children; after her death he married Margaret Marshall, a widow, and they had six more. (Appleton)
