Author: Harvey, William
Biography:
HARVEY, William (fl 1813)
Hours of Loyalty, which appears to be the only work published under this author’s name, is a small collection of political allegories, beast fables and the like. The object of the allegories is now obscure. (The Introduction hints at the defence of a high-ranking counsellor at court and of English institutions in general against libellous attacks.) There was a brief dismissive review in MR. No personal information has been found about the writer and the name—if it is not a pseudonym—was such a common one that there were, for example, two prominent London bankruptcies attached to it about the time of publication.
