Author: HALLINAN, John
Biography:
HALLINAN, John (fl 1822)
Lee, a Poem, which appears to be his only book (and it is a short one), has the double distinction of having been the last product of the private Lee Priory Press of Samuel Egerton Brydges (q.v.) and of having been suppressed as soon as it appeared on account of its anti-Catholic content. For this reason very few copies were printed and it is rare even by Lee Priory standards: Plomer says 2 copies, Lowndes 12. Hallinan is an Irish name and most of the records associated with the name "John Hallinan" in the period have to do with Roman Catholics of Irish birth, but this Hallinan was probably English or settled in England. He might have been the man of that name who died in the parish of St. George in the East in 1838, but no details of his age or background are given.
