Author: Halady, Harry
Biography:
HALADY, Harry (fl 1821)
Only two publications are associated with this name, the doggerel poem about an attempted rape (based on an item in The Times) that is included in this bibliography, and a short lithographed poem of four stanzas, My Bed Candle: a Petit Trifle (1820?). The name is so unusual in the UK that some library catalogues assume it is a pseudonym, but there was in fact a Henry Halady born about the right time, on 30 Apr. 1792 in Oakham, Rutland. His parents were Nathaniel and Elizabeth Halady. Whether or not he is our author is another question. Evidence is wanting. (ancestry.com 21 Dec. 2021; findmypast.com 21 Dec. 2021)
