GORDON, Joseph (fl 1825)
His book is dedicated to the Earl of Airlie to whom Gordon served as butler. After leaving the Earl’s employ, he tried his luck at setting up a drapery store first in Kirriemuir and then in Montrose. He is said to have travelled to the Cape of Good Hope as a planter, and he likely died there. (BAM)
