Biography:

Goddard, Henry (1785-1871: Hollis)

His parents were a doctor and his wife, John and Susanna (Heath) Goddard, living in Portsmouth NH. Henry Goddard married Elizabeth Leavitt Payson in Portsmouth in 1810. By 1820, however, they had moved to Portland ME where they remained for the rest of their lives. They appear to have had five children. An earlier published poem by Goddard, Thoughts on Happiness, printed between 1827 and 1830, is only eight pages long; a later one, The World's Catastrophe, came out in 1848. His occupation is not known. (ancestry.com 7 Jan. 2019)
