Author: Glen, James
Biography:
GLEN, James (b 1815: findmypast.co.uk)
He was the son of James Glen, a weaver, and his wife Isobell Low and was baptised at Edzell, Forfarshire, on 3 Aug. 1815. BAM states that he became known as "the Poet Glen," was a church sexton and lived alone. That he was unmarried and a church officer is confirmed by census records which show him living in the High Street, Edzell. He is recorded in the 1871 Census but no death record has been located. BAM complains that his rhymes were almost exclusively amatory in nature. (findmypast.co.uk 12 Dec. 2025; BAM) SR
