Author: Fyfe, Archibald
Biography:
FYFE, Archibald (1772-1806: PP)
He was born at Paisley, the son of John Fyfe and Helen (Morison) Fyfe. He received little formal education and was largely self-taught. In 1793 he married Isabel Adam; they had five children. Fyfe was unsuccessful in a business concern and then contracted a fatal illness. His death left his wife and children destitute, and his friends hoped that publishing his poems and critical essays would raise funds for their support. (PP; ancestry.co.uk 11 Dec. 2018) SR
