FLOCKER, George (1793-1846: ancestry.co.uk)
He was born on 24 Mar. 1793 and baptised on 28 Apr. at St. Andrew (Independent), Newcastle, one of at least five children of Thomas Flocker and Elizabeth Charlton, who had married in Newcastle in 1789. He entered Hoxton Academy in London in 1813 but it is not known how long he studied there. He was appointed minister at the Zion congregational chapel, Market Weighton, Yorkshire, in 1818 and would remain there for 28 years. He was also a member of the Auxiliary Missionary Society of York. He married Jane Dunning on 29 Mar. 1820 at Market Weighton. She died in December the following year, aged 26. He died on 20 Apr. 1846 at Market Weighton. There are only two known copies of Domestic Happiness (1830): a presentation copy in the Royal Collection, and a copy in the Local History Library, Leeds.
