Biography:
Field Samuel (1743-1800: WBIS)
The eldest son of Colonel David Field of Deerfield MA, he graduated from Yale in 1762. He then studied divinity with a view to a career in the church, but gave it up when he was converted to Sandemanianism, and turned to law instead. He was called to the bar in New Hampshire and then returned to Deerfield to practise. In 1769 he married Sarah Childs, with whom he had seven children. For the next twenty years, he combined his law practice with farming and trade, in Deerfield and the vicinity. In 1794 he moved permanently to Conway MA, where he served as an elder in the Sandemanian church. (Dexter; ancestry.com 3 Dec. 2018)
