Author: Fell, Miss

Biography:

FELL, Miss (fl 1773)

Apart from her identification as "Miss Fell, of Newcastle," on the 1774 title-page, there is no reliable information about this woman. The reviews were not kind to her paean to George III, saying little more than to object to the rhymes. Ralph Fell of Newcastle (c. 1673-1775), a person of some note, had at least two eligible daughters, Sarah (b 1735) and Hannah (b 1738), but in the absence of death dates it is impossible to know which of them would have been "Miss" Fell at the time and it could well be that neither was a writer.
