FAYERMAN, Richard (1722-1800: findmypast.com)
He was born in Chedgrave, Norfolk, one of two sons of the Rev. Francis Fayerman with his first wife Margaret Bayspoole who followed their father into the church. He went to Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge (BA 1745, MA 1754) and was ordained in 1745. After two brief curacies, in 1747 he became the Rector of Ashby with Oby and Thurne (the order of the names varies) in Norfolk, a living he held for the rest of his life. In the same year he married Mary Matthew of Cambridge. They had at least three children but two of them--both boys named Richard--died young and were buried at Thurne. In 1753 he was appointed chaplain to the Earl of Bute; two sinecure posts followed. After the death of his wife he made a second marriage, to Jane Spelman of Great Yarmouth, at Thurne in 1778. His place of residence in the year of his death is given as Necton, a village west of Norwich, but he was buried at Thurne. (findmypast.com 12 Jul. 2012; CCEd 12 Jul. 2012; ACAD 12 Jul. 2012) HJ
