Author: Evatt, Anne
Biography:
EVATT, Anne (fl 1818)
Her book is very rare and, although her surname is unusual, no certain biographical information has been located. However, given age and location, it is just possible that she was the elderly Anne Evatt who lived in an attic on Jervis Street, Dublin, and was fined two shillings and sixpence in 1841 for failing to complete her census paper. Instead of filling in the requested information, Anne Evatt wrote an 8-line poem denouncing the census which she called a “tyrannical inquisition.” (Dublin Monitor 3 July 1841)
