Eastburn, James Wallis (1797-1819: WBIS)
He was born in London to James and Charlotte Eastburn. The family emigrated to the US in 1803 and settled in New York City, where Eastburn and Co. became a prominent publisher. James Wallis Eastburn graduated from Columbia in 1816. Ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1818, he was the author of hymns, songs, and periodical articles. Yamoyden was a collaboration with his friend Robert C. Sands (q.v.), one of the writers published by the family firm. He died on a voyage to Vera Cruz in quest of better health. (Sprague; Appleton)
