DRUMMOND, George William Auriol Hay (1761-1807: ancestry.co.uk)
He was the sixth son of the Most Rev. Robert Hay Drummond, Archbishop of York, and Henrietta (Auriol) Drummond, and grandson of the 8th Earl of Kinnoull. He was born at Kinnoull, Perthshire, on 13 Mar. 1761 and baptised at St. Margaret’s, Westminster, on 10 Apr. Like his father, he attended Westminster School which he entered on 4 May 1770. On 7 June 1776 he matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford (BA 1780 and MA 1783), and he was ordained in 1785. At St. George’s, Hanover Square, on 12 Apr. 1785 he married Elizabeth Margaret Marshall, a minor at the time of the wedding; they had three children before Elizabeth’s death on 15 Feb. 1798. He was vicar of Doncaster 1785-90, perpetual curate of Badsey with Wickhamford, Worcester, from 1785, and was a prebendary of York. He held a succession of other church offices and at the time of his death was vicar of Brodsworth and rector of Rawmarsh (both in Yorkshire). On 18 Oct. 1800 he married Maria Burbank of Dorset; they had one child, a daughter. His other publications include sermons, psalms, and a memoir of his father. He died in a shipwreck on 7 Dec. 1807 off the coast of Devon when he was travelling to Greenock, Scotland.
