Biography:

DONLEVY, John Thomas (fl 1823)

His first names are known from poems and a letter published in the Irish Farmers’ Journal.  The letter, published on 15 Apr. 1820, is dated from Arklow in County Wicklow, Ireland. Donlevy was evidently a teacher and one of his poems is entitled “On the Death of Two Infant Sisters, Pupils to the Author.” By 1823 he had moved to London where most of the subscribers to his one book of verse lived. On 27 Feb. 1827 he married Louisa Allen in St. George’s, Bloomsbury. No other records have been located. (O’Donoghue; Irish Farmers’ Journal 5 Feb. 1820, 15 Apr. 1820) SR
