Author: Dixon, Joseph
Biography:
DIXON, Joseph (fl 1816)
His only recorded publication, a philanthropic Christian call for charity especially to "poor African and Asiatic strangers," first appeared as a publication of the Philadelphia Female Tract Society in 1816. It was taken up by other religious tract societies both in the US and in Britain, and is sometimes erroneously attributed to Legh Richmond. Dixon is described on the 1816 title-page as "a clergyman" but no more has come to light about him. HJ
