Biography:
De Witt, Susan, formerly Linn (1778-1824: WBIS)
The daughter of a New York clergyman, in 1810 she married Simeon De Witt, a widower with six children. He was a successful surveyor who became the Surveyor-General of New York State and Chancellor of the State University. Her other works include two novels, Justinia (1823) and Letters to Ada: from her Brother-in-Law (1834). (Appleton; Blain) HJ
