Biography:
DAY, William (fl 1804)
With such a common name, it has not been possible to identify the author. It seems unlikely that he ventured into print again after the crushing reviews that greeted The Shepherd’s Boy: the Annual Register asserts that “there is scarcely one comprehensible sentence in it.” Several of the poems have prose prefaces which are mysteriously printed after rather than before the poems.
