DAVISON, Phineas (1743-1826: ancestry.com)

He was born in Pomfret CT, the son of Joseph and Mary Davison.  Nothing is known of his education. His first name is spelled "Phinehas" in some records and on the title-pages of two other works, both printed for the author in Greenwich MA in 1810: The Poor Boy's Pocketbook, which contains an alphabet and a catechism; and Phineas [sic] Davison's letter, to Aged Friends. He was married to Martha Gary (d 1829) at Pomfret on 21 Dec. 1775 and they had at least three children, including an only son Phinehas who predeceased them. Davison served in the US navy during the Revolutionary War. Some time after 1790 the family moved to Pelham MA, where he died on 5 Mar. 1826.
