Biography:

DARLING, Peter Middleton (fl 1810-19)

The son of Patricia Rolland Darling (q.v.) and William Darling, he was almost certainly born in Edinburgh. He was a Writer to the Signet (Scottish solicitor) and SBTI also identifies him as a bookseller trading in 1811. He, with his mother and sister, Jessy Rolland Darling (q.v.), wrote some of the poems in Poetical Pieces. He also wrote at least two novels—The Romance of the Highlands (1810) and The Forest of Valancourt (1813)—and Elocutionary Exercises (1819).
