Author: Crooker, Lemuel

Biography:

CROOKER, Lemuel (fl 1811)

His only publications are a small collection of modern hymns (1811) and an account of the Christian death of a child who suffered from "the raging fever" (1813), both of them published in Rutland VT. He may have been the Rev. Lemuel Crooker, an itinerant Freewill Baptist preacher who was reported in 1814 as having established a Freewill Baptist "interest" in Plymouth PA, delivering pastoral care to three churches. His family appears to have been based in New York State, but no further information has been located. (WorldCat 29 May 2018; ancestry.com 19 Aug. 2035; findmypast.com 19 Aug. 2025; I. D.
