Biography:

CRIRIE, James (1752-1835: ancestry.co.uk)

He was born at Glasgow, the son of James Cririe and Janet (Clark) Cririe. He was a Doctor of Divinity and may have attended the University of Glasgow. He taught school at Wigtown and Edinburgh and, from 1801, was Minister at Dalton, Dumfriesshire. Robert Burns rated Cririe’s poetry very highly.
