CONOLLY, James (fl 1774)

Daniel Roderick O’Conor (q.v.) includes an elegy for him in his Works so Conolly had died by 1798 when that book was published. O’Conor calls him the “Macrompian bard” and O’Donoghue states that he was known as “the bard of Macroom [Co. Cork].” The preface to his book is dated from Macroom and the book includes a 14 page subscription list. (O’Donoghue) SR
