CLIFFORD, Samuel (fl 1786)
His books were all published in 1786 and heavily advertised in the Dublin newspapers. He identifies himself as “of Mount Campbell” which was near Drumsna in County Leitrim. Mount Campbell was the seat of the Campbell family, and the connection of Samuel Clifford to the Campbells has not been identified. A Samuel Clifford was born to Richard Clifford and his wife Sarah McCann in nearby Carrick-on-Shannon in 1756; he died in 1814. (ancestry.co.uk 5 Jan. 2022) SR
