Biography:
CLARK, Kennedy (c. 1749-1819: ancestry.co.uk)
He was born in Banff, Scotland; his father’s first name is unknown but his mother was Janet (Morice). In 1765 he was apprenticed to a baker, Alexander Mackenzie, in Aberdeen; on completing his training, he returned to Banff and set up shop. He married Mary Johnston (d 1801) in 1779; of their six children, five died in infancy and one, William, became a ship’s surgeon but died in 1816. His bakery was very successful and he was also widely known as a piper. He died at Banff and is buried there. His book, A Picture of London in Miniature, indicates he must have spent time in London; no copy of the book has been located although a second edition may have been printed in Banff in 1805.
