Biography:

CHEFFINS, Samuel (1780-1854: ancestry.co.uk)

He was baptised on 9 Apr. 1780 at Wainfleet, Lincs., the son of Joshua Cheffins and his second wife Susannah Dowse. On 13 Nov. 1798 he married Jane (Jenny) Phillipson (1779-1858) at Skidbrooke, Lincs. They went on to have at least thirteen children. Around 1814, he became Presbyterian minister at Sleaford, a post he held for forty years until his death. His Sighs of the Poor (Sleaford 1822) consists of religious verse and hymns. He later published a short Poetical Epistle to a Friend (1829).
