Biography:
CHARLETON, Thomas William (1786-c.1828: ancestry.co.uk)
He was the eldest son of the Rev. Charles Charleton (d 1825), vicar of Tynemouth, Northumberland, and his wife Anna Maria Holme (d 1824); they had married in Edinburgh on 22 Nov. 1784. Charleton was baptised at Saint Cuthbert’s, Carlisle, on 26 Sept. 1786. He joined the Royal Navy and was made a lieutenant in 1812. In 1827 in Ireland he married Jane Moody, daughter of Henry Moody of Ballintemple, County Carlow; there were no children. Charleton’s will states that he is “of sound mind, memory, and understanding but weak in body.” The exact date of his death in Belfast is not known but his will was proved in London on 11 Mar. 1828, and left his estate to Jane Charleton, his wife.
