Biography:
CHALONER, John (1780-1862: ancestry.co.uk)
He was born at Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, the second son of John Chaloner and Jane (Hunt) Chaloner, and became a captain in the British army, serving in H.M. 36th Regiment during the disastrous expedition to South America in 1807. He is buried at Fethard, near Clonmel. A memorial inside Holy Trinity church at Fethard states that he died on 3 June 1862, aged 82.
