Biography:

CARNEGIE, George Fullerton (1799-1851: ancestry.co.uk)

He was born at Montrose on 18 Dec. 1799 to John Carnegie (d 1805) and Mary (Fullerton) Carnegie (d 1806), and baptised on 20 Jan. 1800.  He inherited family estates at Pittarrow, and Charleton. He married Madeline Connell in Edinburgh on 29 Apr. 1823, and they had two sons and two daughters. In 1832 he is recorded as living at 19 St. Bernard's Crescent, Edinburgh. Living lavishly, he spent much of his inheritance. His best-known work is Golfiana. Some contemporary sources give the date of his death as 1843, but he died at Montrose on 16 Oct. 1851 and was buried in the Kinnaber cemetery in Montrose.
