Biography:

CAMERON, Lucy Lyttelton, formerly Butt (1781-1858: ODNB)

The daughter of a clergyman, George Butt (q.v. 1741-95), and Martha (Sherwood) Butt, she was born in Worcestershire. She had the advantages of good schooling in languages and of exposure to literary circles in the various parishes in which her father served. In 1806 she married another clergyman, Charles Richard Cameron, who served in parishes in Shropshire and Lincolnshire; they had a large family. Along with her sister Mary Martha Sherwood, she became a prolific author of pious tales for children, but her usual medium was prose. (ODNB 12 Feb. 2018) HJ
