Biography:

CALLISTER, Robert (fl 1785)

The only record of Robert Callister’s Poems is in Harrison and no copy has been located. Harrison states that the poems concern the Isle of Man and the inscription to John Frissell and John Lace is dated from Liverpool on 4 June 1785. By Frissell may be meant John Frissell Crellin (d 1816) who was the first deemster or judge in the Isle of Man. Likely Robert Callister was the son of Thomas Callister and Joney Quayle and he was baptised on 2 July 1758 at Malew, Isle of Man. Nothing more is known.
