BURNS, Robert (fl 1809)

He is designated “of Hamilton,” Lanarkshire, but little other biographical information has been located. Invocation to Melpomene (1798; 8 pp.) is attributed to him by BL but elsewhere his famous namesake is given as the author. Cadzow Castle is dedicated to Scott and a copy is in the library at Abbotsford. (Abbotsford Cata.) SR
