Author: Buchanan, Robert
Biography:
BUCHANAN, Robert (fl 1797-1805?)
Little is known about him, but his Poems on Several Occasions is dedicated to John Hathorn of Castlewigg and to the Wigtownshire Volunteers, suggesting that he was from Galloway. His preface makes explicit the political meaning of the two first poems in the collection. There is a list of subscribers, and a note indicates that they were each to be charged an extra sixpence per copy because of the unexpected length of the book. At the date of writing, no copy of the anonymously published The Dawn of Science in Glasgow has been located. SR
