Although his book, The Storm, is dedicated to Samuel Lord Hood, rear-admiral of the blue, there is no indication that Brown himself had been or was in the navy. The dedication describes the author as “a poor, unlearned, obscure person.” The subscription list includes only surnames. No other information has been found. SR
