BROWN, John (fl 1818-20)
In library catalogues John Brown the poet is often identified as “John Brown of Great Yarmouth.” The latter, whose Mysteries of Neutralization (1806) identify the author on the title page as of Great Yarmouth, was likely a different man; there is an entry in the ODNB for him. John Brown the poet claims only his books of poetry on his title pages and his books give no indication of any connection to Great Yarmouth. Psyche is dedicated to the memory of his late mother, Mary Griffin. No other information has been located. SR
