Author: Brown, James

Biography:

BROWN, James (fl 1793-1824)

He is identified as the Rev James Brown, DD, of Barnwell, Northampton, on the title pages of his books but little other reliable biographical information has been located. His DD was conferred on him in 1803 by St. Andrews University, Scotland. His other publications include The Importance of Preserving Unviolated the System of Civil Government in Every State (1793), An Attempt Towards a New Historical and Political Explanation of the Book of Revelation (1810), and Restitution of All Things (1824). In the preface to the latter he refers to himself as elderly and he seems by 1824 no longer to be curate at Barnwell. He may be the James Brown who was buried at All Saints, Barnwell, on 17 Apr. 1837. (ancestry.co.uk 23 July 2025; CCEd) SR
