Author: Bradford, John
Biography:
BRADFORD John (fl 1809-19)
An obscure figure. His book is a collection of comic pieces in verse and prose, mostly about the technical side of publishing--typesetting and binding especially. The author, "a Knight of the Folding-Stick, of Paste-Castle," worked as a binder from various addresses in New York between 1809 and 1819. He is not to be confused with the pioneering Kentucky printer of the same name (1749-1830). (George L. McKay, A Register of Artists, Engravers, Booksellers . . . [1942]) HJ
