Author: Booth, W.

Biography:

BOOTH, W. (fl 1805)

No information that would identify this author has been found. The Preface states that the poems were written in youth and are being published in old age. Likely he came from or near Leicester, Leicestershire. The Bodley copy is signed to a Mrs. Lafargue from the author. Many of the poems are addressed to young women. A review in the Monthly Mirror claims “Nonsense never shew’d a broader face.”  (Monthly Mirror 19 [1805], 392-93)
