Biography:
BOODEY, Joseph (1773-1867: ancestry.com)
Born and buried in New Durham NH, he was the son of Zechariah Boodey; his mother's name is not known. He is sometimes referred to as Joseph Boodey Jr. to distinguish him from an uncle of the same name who had been one of the founders (in 1780) of the sect that became known as Freewill Baptists. He was ordained in that church in 1799 and served his community throughout a long life; he delivered his last sermon in 1866. In 1800 he married Marcy Pike, with whom he had nine children. He was known for his eloquence and was elected for several years (at least 1816-22) to the State legislature.
