Biography:

BOLDERO, Christian, formerly SHELDRAKE (c. 1766-1828: ancestry.co.uk)

She married the Rev. George Boldero (d 1822) on 16 May 1787 in Marylebone, London. The marriage record describes her as of the parish of St. Marylebone and aged about twenty-one.  However, no public record of her birth has been located. George Boldero, who came from Norfolk, was the vicar of Rainham St. Martin, Norfolk. The couple had a son, George, born and baptised on 30 Sept. 1788, but he died in Apr. or May 1797. Their sole surviving child was a girl for whom Christian Boldero wrote Sacred Dramas. The book’s introductory letter to her daughter, Christiana, suggests that she is still an infant; in fact she was born in about 1795 and married John Temple in 1819. In 1821 both mother and daughter inherited £2000 each from Christian's brother, Colonel John Sheldrake, owner of a plantation in Berbice (Guyana). Christian Boldero died in 1828 and was buried in Rainham St. Martin on 11 Sept. 1828.  (ancestry.co.uk 13 Feb. 2023; LBS; Norfolk Chronicle 21 Mar. 1829)
