Biography:
BLENNERHASSETT, Margaret, formerly Agnew (d 1842: ANBO)
Daughter of the Lieutenant-Governor of the Isle of Man, she married her mother's brother, Harman Blennerhassett, in 1796 and emigrated with him to the US, where they built up an estate on an island in the Ohio River. They had three sons. They became enmeshed in the allegedly treasonous schemes of Aaron Burr and eventually lost almost everything. They moved to Montreal in 1819; in 1825 they returned to England, where Harman died, on Guernsey, in 1831. In 1842, Margaret sailed to New York to petition Congress for money, but died there shortly after her arrival.
